  • Short plant description HU 438 in culture

Diameter of the culture plant is ca. 14 cm. The plant height without cephalium is10 cm. The colour of the epidermis is gray/green. The number of ribs is 13. The number of areoles per rib 4 to 5 on plants with cephalium. The shape of the areoles is oval. The number of radial spines is 4 to 6. The length of the spines upwards is 1 cm; the spines side- and downwards are up to 3 cm. The shape of the spines is straight to slightly bent to the plant and the colour is gray. The colour of the fruit is yellow/green.The position of the stigma is half-way up the secondary stamens.

  • Remarks

As a result of a construction of a reservoir HU 438 is a treatened species. The cultivation of the species is not easy. It's advised to continue sowing and grafting.

    Rio Sao Francisco near SOBRADINHO also west and east of Jazuaro. Near Juremal is the habitat of HU 633. May be there is a habitat south of Sento Se.

The colour of the epidermis is green.

Number of areoles per rib is 5 to 6 on plants with cephalium. 
The shape of the areoles is round. 
The number of radial spines is 5 to 7. 
The length of the spines is up to 3 cm. 
The shape of the spines is straight to a little bit bent to the plant. The colour is rose/white. The colour of the cephalium is cream.

Only a little different of the type HU 438.
