The shape of the areoles is round.
The number of radial spines is 6.
The length of the spines is 0.5 cm for the 3 spines upwards and 1.5 cm for the spines downwards.
The shape of the spines is slightly curved and the colour is gray/brown.

  • Remarks

The distinguishing point at issue from D. latispinus is the strongly develop bristle of hairs round about the base of the primary stamens. We think this is a very small difference that also occurs in a few other species and also this difference should not result in another name. Neither the exact habitat, nor any other information, was placed at our disposal by the herbarium of the University of Köln.
