Diameter of the culture plant is ca. 10 cm.
Plant height without cephalium is 6 cm.
The colour of the plant is bright green, later darker green.
Number of ribs 15.
Number of areoles per rib 8 on plants without cephalium.
The shape of the areoles is round.
The number of radial spines is 6.
The length of the spines upwards is 0.5 cm, 2 sidewards and 1
downwards up to 2 cm.
The shape of the spines is slightly recurved to the plant and the
colour is pale gray.
A species with many varieties. Also known among others
the field numbers HU 356, HU 461, HU 639, HU 640, BR 5, BR 199.

Diameter of the culture plant is ca. 12 cm.
Plant height without cephalium is 7 cm.
The colour of the epidermis is dark green.
Number of ribs ca. 11 to 13.
Number of areoles per rib on plants with cephalium ca. 5.
The shape of the areoles is round to oval. The number of radial spines 5. The length of the 2 spines upwards is 0.5 cm, the 2 spines sidewards 1.5
cm. and the stronger spines downwards up to 3 cm.
The shape of the spines is slightly recurved backwards to the plant and the colour
is between brown/black or white with a black tip.Very old plants are
mostly grayish with a black tip. The colour of the cephalium is grayish/white.

shapes of latispinus
Plants originate from the collection of Ronald de
Zeeuw in Gouda, Holland. Seeds came from import plants of the same
habitat. Address unknown.
