Diameter of the culture plant is ca 20 cm. 
Plant height without cephalium is 10 cm. 
The colour of the epidermis is shiny green. 
Number of ribs 16.
Number of areoles per rib is 4 to 5 on plants with cephalium. 
The shape of the areoles is round.
The number of radial strong spines is 6 to 8. 
The length of the amber coloured spines is 1 to 2,5 cm. 
The shape of the spines is more or less bent towards the plant. 
The colour of the cephalium is white. 
The colour of the fruit is white. 
The position of the stigma  is half-way up the secondary stamens.

  • Remarks.

The older plants have in their white cephalium strong, straight and dark red spines. (2 cm and longer).

  • Habitat.

12 km beyond Rio Maranhao between the Rio Tocantin and Parana on stony and rocky soil, grown near grasses, wild plants and small crooked trees at an altitude of ca. 380 m.

The colour of the epidermis is green.

Number of areoles per rib is 5 to 6 on plants without cephalium. 
The shape of the areoles is round. 
The number of radial spines is 7 to 8. 
The length of the spines is 0,5 to 2,5 cm. 
The shape of the spines is a little bit bent to the plant. The colour is yellowish.
